and Recording

|
Ivette is a Cuban-American singer/songwriter who was born and raised in NY. She began taking piano lessons at the age of 9 and from that point on she has continued developing her skills in writing and recording her own original music. Capturing sound has always been very intriguing to Ivette who would often be found recording anything and everything with some kind of tape recorder in her earlier days. At around the age of 16 she started recording with a piano, drum machine, and voice on her first Fostex 4 track. At the age of 18 she began playing rhythm guitar and began acquiring more and more gear for her home recording studio, which is always growing. Her husband Tom is the bass player for Corrientes and also does all the art and web design for the band. Ivette is currently a Language Arts elementary school teacher in Jamaica, Queens N.Y. When not at her "day job" she is recording and preparing for shows with her band Corrientes. Most recently Ivette has created a Corrientes Collaborative Ning Social Network featuring her collaboration projects from artists from all over the globe! |
Tom has always been interested and involved with Music and Art. He has been playing bass for over 15 years, spending two of them at Berklee College of Music. Currently working as an Art Director for a magazine In NYC. In addition to laying down the bass tracks for Corrientes recordings, he is also responsible for the design and maintenance of the band's web site, and the creation of all art regarding Corrientes. Tom contributes both lyrically and musically to Corrientes songs. He holds down the foundation of the songs with his own unique style of bass playing that is influenced by a mixture of the many different styles of music he listens to. |
